IGES VS STEP import

I would like to know if there is a significant behaviour difference between STEP and IGES imported files in Shapr3D. I would like to work with a dedicated software for hydrofoil design but they only propose IGES as export mode. I would like to further work on my project with Shapr3D ie : for mold design.

STEP and IGES files are both supported in Shapr3D, but we recommend using STEP whenever possible as it typically preserves solid geometry and structure more reliably. IGES files can sometimes import as surfaces, which might require extra work to prepare for mold design. That said, you can still use IGES files in Shapr3D and continue your hydrofoil project—just keep an eye on the imported geometry to ensure everything comes through as expected.
