Question for Members,
I’m a non-pump guy needing to design an external gear pump with one drive gear and two (or more) idler gears so that I can pump two (or more) streams with the same pump. The key point, however, is that I need the displacements of each pumping section to be different. It seems the easiest way to accomplish this is to make the depth of the chambers/cavities different and, therefore, the thickness of their corresponding idlers. My questions are (1) Is this doable (2) if yes, should the depth of the drive gear and it’s cavity be the same as the deeper or shallower idler?
Thanks kindly for any advise on this.
