Both my AMS units have been apart fixing broken filament clogs. Putting the connectors back on at the funky angle with big fat fingers is maddening to say the least. Made me mad so I cut it! 
Took a 2.5 hours to mod both AMS units, but the pay off? Priceless! 3 minutes to find and fix the broken filament without unplugging anything but the feed tube to move it forward. All I had at the time was an Exacto knife to cut out the bottom. Grueling work, but I was driven. 
Would have been nice if they would have thought to create an access for it. To me this is akin to having to pull a firewall to change 1 of the 8 spark plugs. I think they addressed some of the issue with the AMS2.
I have been made aware of people being blessed with never having this problem… be aware that the filament going thru the feed gears is often where the filament breaks. Sometimes it’s best to ditch that first bit and not feed it thru again especially if the filament has sat around unused for a while.
