So, maybe this is a feature request 
Would like to be able to see the clearance of an object while moving it
The issue being that the object goes solid when being moved
Anyway to overcome this?

Not sure what you said there… would i like to see the object that I am moving, like an transparent object and the ‘shadow of it while I move it? If this is the suggestion, I say sure, it could be helpful a lot.
The top is the object transparent
The bottom when it is selected to be rotated
We want to be able to rotate the selected object while being able to see the cleanse of the internal tabs
Since the object goes sold when moving you can’t see the interaction between the two objects
