when creating new sketches is it normal for other sketches to show up when creating a new one that were on the same plane (surface). And what is the common practice after sketches are created and used, are the old sketches usually deleted or do most users keep them.

Hello - sketches, at the moment, are automatically grouped by plane. If you create a sketch on a plane that you hid in Items, those previously hidden sketches will show up.
The best workaround is to delete them /slightly move them to a different plane (thus circumventing the automatic grouping)
But we hear you, and grouping sketches is something we are actively considering.

I most often delete, … as those red small reference points are enough to re-create sketches should I wish.
