Proper Way to Delete Items?

I have a model that I have been working on for a while, but I sometimes have issues attempting to open the project. The problem is that it has over 4000 surfaces or whatever (the number that loads xxxx/4006). I have attempted to delete some of the objects to unload the burden, but even though I delete objects it still loads over 4000 whatevers.

Is there some other way to remove all of these objects so that the counter lowers a bit?

The real problem i have is that my model won’t really load well on my iPad…I have to attempt to open the model like 20 times before it actually opens.

I really need some help here.

Try export import? (if different info loss in different types are acceptabel that is.)

Can you actually export single objects as a Shapr3d file without exporting all of the objects in the project…then later open the exported file and only have the single object that was exported?

As a last resort, you should just delete your history. Then you can delete all sketches and planes. Of course, it‘s Not the best option, but it works.

Yes you can export single object by utilizing the isolate feature.

Select what you need to export and hit isolate button.

When I delete my history…everything deletes…all of the objects that are associated with the history.

When I isolate all of the objects, then export them to a different file…it seems to still carry all of the history, therefore over 4000 entities that have to load each time.

Yes that is true if you export as Shapr format,

I forgot to mention to export it as a Parasolid format. That format will export only the model.

Will I be able to edit the model after that?

Yes you will be able to edit.

With IGES, Parasolid and STEP file you will be able to edit and add features to it unlike STL. The 3 file mentioned is CAD compatible format.

What will be missing is parametric history and the sketch, which is the reason why performace will improve.

It does not erase, just encapsulate (hide)

that should not happend everything deletes, something is really off here…

I have found that if you highlight all the objects you want to delete, then open the items menu and delete from there (delete is at the bottom of the items list) works.

But what I have been doing lately and works great to just get the item you want, is to export as a STEP file then you can import it or open it as a new file, this has really changed how I work with shaper now as it can be used as a pseudo lcut and paste” to get an item into another project and it is completely editable, i cant believe I only found this out after a having this software for a frew years now!!!

Thank you all for the much needed assistance. The Parasolid method worked very well for me and has caused me to love this software again.

Truly…Thank You

My project crash quick frequently. I am not designing Gears. But my project is quit large. And when it crashes I have it upload the project to Shaqpr3d. I can’t be 100% sure that this is a true workaround but i have to merge my History. From time to time. I never learned how to use the History tool so it is not bad to do it from time to time. I think it get into an issue where there it to much process when the history gets to large and crashes the system. If this happens to anyone where Shapr3d is crashing try merging history and see if that help. One time early on merging history that time did make things run much faster.
