Scaling Decals on large scale models

Hi all!

I am loving the latest additions of decals but I have a problem.

I often design for my company booths in 1:1 scale which feature very large posters (ie 3x3 meters) and when I want to show a specific poster with a preview of the image I need to upload to the app a humungous image file in order to show it properly. I try to use the scale function but very often the 4x max limit is not sufficient.

For now the only solution I found is to upload a (more or less9 1:1 scale image at 300dpi to allow me to show it as intended, making the whole file and subsequent web upload slower.

Is there a way to fix this issue? Any tips would be very welcome.

Thank You all and keep up the great work (I just need more tools for rendering - and optionally some animation tools (this would be overkill) - and this great app would be GLORIOUS!

Claudio

We understand this limitation and know it impacts workflows like yours. It’s an area we’d like to improve on.

Yeah, Texturing in just about any of the 3d programs I have used put some strain on my rig at the time. Could you divide the texture so it can be tiled? set it up as a series of small parts to place on the model

Thank You Akos! I am sure improvements will come soon, after all since the introduction of decals I have seen improvements quite rapidly (thinking just of the selection between planar vs cylindrical applications).

I will try this workaround Matthew, thank You

I have already done something like that when I needed to apply more parts of a graphic on a box for example with some success.
