Screws, screws, screws

Guys, what’s the best way, fastest way and most efficient way of modelling a screw of any kind in S3D?

Hey, here is a (bit outdated) video on the general concept of creating screws: https://youtu.be/CVBlp2zX5fM?t=2395

You can also import them from services like McMaster-Carr, here is a video on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRWZLncHQFE

thank you Daniel, always coming through :fist:t5:

My answer which is still relevant in 2022 if Not having to design a screw in the first place. You may need a particular custom screw. But I think almost all of us just need to model a standard screw. Almost all the time I need a screw is to use it to perform a “subtraction” in order to create a hole with screw threads. Creating a screw from scratch is way to complicated and I could use my time better spent modeling the rest of my project. I will never need a reason to create a custom screw type. My suggestion is to have a couple of predesigned objects to use freely.

John, I guess I’m not following your point. Every standard screw is available via McMaster-Carr as suggested. Most of the items they sell have 3D drawings available in several formats. STEP imports perfectly into Shapr3D. I import them, and save them to iCloud/Files so I have my own library of screws, nuts, etc.

I download and save them as well.
