I often need more advanced surface modeling tools to create complex, organic shapes.
Currently, the surface modeling tools in Shapr3D are limited, and I’m unable to easily thicken surfaces to a defined thickness, which is crucial for turning surface models into solid parts. This limits my ability to create more detailed or specialized designs, especially when working on aerodynamic or freeform shapes.
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
This feature should allow me to:
- Create and edit complex surfaces with more control (e.g., surface lofts, sweeps, and blends).
- Thicken surfaces to a specified thickness with precise control to turn them into solid bodies.
- Use tools like surface trimming and extension to refine the shape.
- Smoothly blend surfaces for G2 continuity for more organic transitions between surfaces.
- Easily manipulate surface geometry in real-time to fine-tune shapes.
- Improve patching workflows to close gaps between surfaces.
These tools would allow for more advanced design work, especially in areas like aerodynamics, consumer products, or any form that requires organic, free-flowing shapes.
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
Without more surface modeling features and the ability to thicken surfaces, I’m forced to use other software for advanced shaping and modeling, which slows down my workflow.yle and focuses on advanced surface creation and thickening capabilities.
