Is there a way to make the 2D sketches visible in the visualisation?
I just noticed that the new GenAI feature works with 2D imported images (e.g. pencil sketches, illustrations), which brings even more added value to Shapr3D. It would also be useful to generate AI images from Shapr3D sketches. Is this possible?
Yes, in Shapr3D, 2D sketches or imported images such as pencil drawings or illustrations can be visualized and used in AI workflows, but there are some nuances. When you import a 2D image (PNG, JPG, or SVG), it appears as a canvas or reference image that can be positioned on a plane in 3D space. This allows you to trace over it, extrude it, or use it as a reference. To ensure visibility, make sure the sketch plane is in view and adjust its transparency or layer order if necessary. Shapr3D’s GenAI feature can generate 3D models from 2D images, meaning you can use sketches as input for AI-assisted modeling. For best results, high-contrast sketches on a clean background work best, and tracing the sketch into curves can improve AI interpretation and visualization. This makes it possible to generate AI images or even 3D models from Shapr3D sketches, adding significant value to the workflow.
