In iPadOS why doesn’t the delete button come up when I select a hole and turned it blue? If I pick the inside edge of the hole without highlighting the edges the erase button appears and lets me delete. I want to drag my pencil over multiple holes and be able to delete them.
If this can’t be done then I would like to request this feature.
You should get a popup as you’re doing an area selection that allows you to choose selection filters. You want to choose Faces.

Select the inner face of the hole, not the edge of it. It will work. 
No popup appears. Is there a setting to toggle this popup?
