The problem that this feature will solve:
I’m not sure the current workflow can be improved beyond the current “Import/trace” process, but whoever can capitalize on the quickly and vastly improving consumer/prosumer 3D Scanner market by focusing a workflow on converting a 3D scanned mesh into a solid/editable object will corner the market. The “Scan/Reverse Engineer” workflow and desired process does not function well end-to-end, but 3D scanners are getting better and cheaper so many of us are buying them. We can get a good scan, but then have to use that scan as a traceable item in order to actually draw what we have scanned.
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
Having an optimized conversion feature would enable users to take a scanned mesh file would DRAMATICALLY reduce time and improve the quality of output. The dream of scanning an object and being able to quickly move to editing features or creating a case/cover/addition to the object would be a gamechanger and would fit with Shapr3D’s ease of use mantra.
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
Having to trace around a 3D scan is time consuming and often results in skewed output from the original. It’s beyond the scope of the average user.
