Get more control over material settings and selections with updates to Visualization and the Selection tool.
New: Now you can customize refractive materials in Visualization using Transmission and IOR (Index of Refraction) sliders to control transparency and how light bends through surfaces. Transmission: IOR:
Improved: The Selection tool now includes new options for working more efficiently in complex designs:
Select from overlapping items – Easily choose the exact sketch, edge, or face from a pop-up list when multiple elements overlap.
Select Through mode – Access internal geometry without hiding or adjusting surrounding parts, using a keyboard shortcut or context menu for faster, more precise edits.

These are great updates and will make the workflow of using Shapr3D mush easier. One addition to the list selection process could be to be able to right mouse button click on screen thru the edges, surfaces or bodies and also have the option of a list. Good job Shapr3D team looking forward to many more improvements.
Go to the App Store and to the Account Popup and refresh via Pull Down. I just did that and Shapr showed up in the update app list.
Doing these selection on the iPad I’m bit confused, did it once and I don’t know how to reproduce what I did. A demo on the iPad would be nice. On the desktop it was more straight forward.
An idea: When the pop-up window opens in the select trough option, by hovering the mouse / pencil over the label of an object, it would get highlighted in the workspace. This would solve the issue of not knowing what exactly you are selecting, and speed up the workflow
@SCALEMODEL You just tap on a line / edge hidden behind a face (the „show hidden edges“ feature helps a lot) and then get a pop-up window to select whatever you want to select.
I agree it would make it so much easier to verify which edge, surface or body was being picked if it would highlight the object hovering over in the list it is too hard to see as just a black highlight. but it is a really good update.
You know what they say: A userinterface is like a joke; If you have to explain it, it’s not very good…
I watched the video here on the new improved select and I still don’t understand. Nor have I been able to make it help better selecting of tight item easier… Something that has been on my wishlist for a long time…
I have verified I’m on 5.83, so what’s missing? Is this ONLY with hidden edges. Or how many or how tight does stuff need to be for this to activate???
I agree about the current highlighting on Dekstop being too subtle. But far worse, it seems on iPad there is no highlighting at all and that makes the UI worse than it was without the enhanced selection feature (you would have to zoom close enough to get what you want. Now you keep getting the useless dialog).
I saw this update, but the issue I have is, it’s unclear what the options in the submenu are referring to when it pops up. I’m not sure if this is due to a substandard naming-convention on my part, but I literally have no idea which one to select and so I just roll the dice and hope it’s what I wanted.
Not sure that will help. . . I actually DO name my objects in the ‘items’ sidebar, yet I still seem to get 3-4 options in the new submenu, and the titles of them are just not really self-explanatory. But the object I actually clicked on was indeed named. . . hence my confusion.
So I’m still trying to figure out the Select Through feature on the iPad.
For me that seems like the most useful feature on the desktop (hover over object) vs the popup list (hover the list, in my case I never name my layers).
I understand show edges to select, but Select Through is useful because I don’t want to be overwhelmed with all the visible edges.
The feature seems to require Right Click which iPad doesn’t have. Also Shapr is not utilizing the Haptic Click Button on the newer Pencil.
On Windows Surface we have 2 buttons, on the Pen one of them acts like a Right Click once you Hold the button and tap you get a list.
Here’s 2 different Select Features on the desktop since we can Right Click.
