As you can see, the text appears backwards no matter which side of the sketch my cylinder is on. Of course that’s no real problem, I can just mirror it.
I’d just like to understand how exactly a wrap gets projected unto a surface. I’d expect one of these to have backwards writing, but I’m a bit confused why both do. What am I missing?
My understanding is that the problem is not in the Project/Wrap tools but in the sketch. Because it is flat, you can’t visually understand which side is the front and which is the back. But it still exists and affects the projection direction. Just try to rotate the construction plane before drawing a sketch.
Ah, I see. So it doesn’t automatically pick the normal direction facing the wrap target geometry, it basically assigns a “default normal direction” for a new sketch and uses that for all wrap functions?
Right. So especially for text, it seems that default is the “unintuitive” way round. Or I guess I’ll have to do some more experimenting to see if it’s always that way.
..a toggle for the direction might be a good idea.
