Ability to Manually Set Grid Spacing

I am currently a Solidworks user, but am very impressed with the efficiency of the user interface on Shapr3D and will probably start using it as a faster way to create designs. There is one thing that is driving me crazy though, and it looks like something that people have been requesting as far back as 2016. There appears to be no way to manually set the spacing for the grid. Instead we are stuck with these granular, preset numbers that are awkwardly set by having to zoom the grid until it auto-picks a number that is close to what you want. Why can’t we just manually set this number? When working in inches for projects such as construction or furniture design, the .1 inch setting is pretty useless. We need units that would correspond to lines on a tape measure, such as .125 or .0625 spacing to represent 1/8 or 1/16" tolerance. Given some of the complex features having been added in recent revisions such as parametric modeling, something as simple as allowing us to set the grid spacing directly should be super simple. Please listen to your users on this one and add this long requested feature.

Hi @K_Kepley

It is easy to set grid spacing to “normal” fractions found on tape measures.

Awesome, I didn’t know those two settings were tied together. Thanks!

I still think it would be a good idea to let people manually set custom grid spacing though. Not as urgent though with this primary use case having a solution.

Love this software BTW, I’ve been pitching it to my engineer friends. For some reason nobody has heard of it. Once I get good at using it I’m planning on doing a presentation at work. We do voluntary lunch-and-learn google meet presentations on various technical topics where I work where we showcase our projects or new technologies we find.
