Adjusting angle between lines takes them "off grid"

(Again, new to all this so I apologize if this has already been asked and answered – I did look first!)

This happens every time I start trying to sketch a shape with straight lines. If I draw two lines and connect them, and those lines don’t already make a perfect 90 degree angle, if I then tap the angle pop-up and manually enter 90 degrees, the lines rotate off the grid, and nothing I can do actually gets them back on the grid. It’s very frustrating! (Screenshot attached to show you what I mean.)

Hi Chris,

No worries, happy to help. That’s normal behavior. Just because a line is on the grid, it will not necessarily stay there when you make edits to it.

I’d advise you to lock your lines, sketches before you start constraining them. This will save you a lot of time and frustration.

You can do this two ways:

  1. Tap on the end points and then tap on the Lock icon right on top of them.

  2. Tap on the line, or the endpoint, or multiple lines and end points, and then tap on the Lock icon in the Constraint Menu on your right.

So to get exactly what you want:

  1. Lock one of the lines first with the LOCK function
  2. Add the angle afterwards.

That will solve the problem.

That makes sense. Thank you for the quick assistance!
