Assemblies? Any update on this

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has an idea what the status of the very long promised assemblies functionality actually is.

if you look at the forums, for a number of years now someone in the dev team says it’s “on the roadmap”. but it’s one of those features that never seem to be implemented

as I’ve got a subscription for another cad system that renews yearly with the renewal upcoming soon, I’d like to see if I should keep that one going or whether shapr3d actually is going to add this really soon…

thanks

This subject is something that I was going to reach out to the Shapr3D team for comment also because my Shapr3D subscription come due this month and I have been waiting at least 3 years for this. I am asking Istvan from Shapr3D “How long do we have have to wait”

Thank you

I’m sorry to say I’m moving away from Shapr3D now, due to lack of assemblies, BoM, still can’t customise title block, and many other basic items. Always read they are on the roadmap, but it seems the road is very very long. Started using “other” free cad software for anything requiring these features, and very impressed

I think it’s exactly this.

I can’t understand how the company is working out what features to bring out and which ones not to.
For example - the whole “team-sharing” thing in my opinion, whilst surely useful to some is something I personally could have done gladly without, but Assemblies is the one thing I can’t do without.

What bothers me is this “it’s on the roadmap” - Zero insight as to when, if or in what form this will ever become reality.

FreeCad offers full assembly functionality, so does fusion360, so does Onshape… and of course all of the big boy ones, from Solidworks to the rest.

If you look at the forums here and search for assemblies - it’s been an ongoing request for several years, always met with the same “it’s on the to do list”.

I for one will not renew my shapr3d subscription to be frank.
I’ll gladly come back to it, if they ever implement assemblies - but not before.

They seem to be concentrating on marketing applications. For pure engineering, all that visualization they’ve been concentrating on is next to worthless. Assemblies and wrapping sketches/graphics around curved bodies are things I want to be able to do.
