I researched about the best 3D printer for the past few days because i want to start printing some models and parts at home i read reviews on The New York Times Wirecutter Tom’s Hardware and All3DP and they are marking these two as best:
However I am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and need your expert advice i am mostly planning to print miniatures household parts and maybe some larger functional prints in the future i want something reliable easy to set up with good print quality and community support.
So which one should I buy? Any recommendation will be appreciated.
I know that’s not the answer you’re waiting for but I would suggest to buy Bambulab P1P/P1S.
I own one for 2 years and still think it is very good variant.
I used a resin printer, K1, and Bambu. Bambu seemed to be more reliable over time, it’s older, but had more firmware updates. Make sure you can get a .2mm nozzle for both printers for minatures. K1 is still new, so you might need to wait for the .2mm nozzle and profile support, but you can buy off brand .2mm nozzle and search the printer forums for a custom profile. Also, consider a resin printer for miniatures.
If I go with the title of thread literally and not with just the two printers in the first post, I’d have to go with Bambu. I have a P1S, an X1 Carbon, and just bought two Bambu H2Ds. All have the AMS.
Tonight I fired up the first H2D, and the hardest part was lugging it up the stairs. Within 45 minutes of opening the box, I was printing. There was no tweaking, no adjusting, nothing, and the first print was perfect. It’s whisper quiet, and the first print was a problematic one where on the X1 I had to have the aux fan turned off and the door open, but this was printed just using default settings.
I almost pulled the trigger on a different printer because I needed at least a 300mm print bed, but this one fit the bill with 320mm.
Honestly, the Creality line are not considered the best as they still have persistent bed issues. I returned a K2 Plus for similar issues.
As for flashforge they lost their following and honestly wouldn’t be sure they are the best long term either.
If you want bulletproof, the Prusa One or MK4S.
If you want close to that with better speed, then the P1S is decent, but I had to do several upgrades to get it where I wanted it to be (hotend, extruder gear, and light bar, as well as build plate).
If you’re okay without an enclosure, then the A1 will give you ridiculously good prints that exceed stock P1 models for sure.
I’ve done some testing with the H2D, and it’s phenomenal. I took a print that I run on the X1C, and it was always problematic and I had to turn the aux fan off and leave the door wide open, but on the H2D, I just used the default settings and the prints were perfect. I think a lot has to do with heated chamber.
That’s not to say that the X1C isn’t good, because I’m very satisfied, But this is a game changer, especially for multi-color printing with the dual nozzles.
