Circular pattern help

I’m looking for a tutorial that will take me through creating a circular pattern. I’m working on a project that needs a radial gear that’s perpendicular to the cylinder, similar to the chuck key receiver on an electric drill. is that a good enough description? Or even a flange nut:

Just make one piece and then use Circular Pattern to make the rest. Union them and that’s it.
