Creating a volume in a drawer

Hello everyone,

I’m starting out on this software that I find great.

I created a 3D drawer representing my kitchen drawer. The sides are not straight by design.

I want to print drawer organizers for my utensils. To do this, I first want to create the volume that will fill the drawer perfectly, taking into account a tolerance of about 2-3 mm.

Then, I intend to “dig” the volume with all my utensils.

I admit that I don’t really know how to create this filling volume, then remove 2-3 mm for tolerance.

Can you give me some clues?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Nykiel ,
Try this:

  • Select the top faces of your sides, front and back. Then use the Project tool and project those faces to the bottom of your drawer. That will give you the exact size of the inner part of the drawer.
  • Extrude the bottom face up as far as you want your “dig” volume to be. Be sure to choose the New Body option of extrude.
  • Isolate that new body.
  • Select the faces of the sides, front and back of your new body.
  • Offset Face with a negative 2-3 mm.

That should give you what you want.

Thank you so much Bob !
I’ll try tonight
