I am unable to ever get the Measure tool to do anything other than measure a single edge in a plane. It’s so recalcitrant that I’m wondering if it really works in 3D at all, or just in sketches…
I need a point-to-point measurement, but I am utterly unable to get it to measure between the points I want (which are parts of shapes in different planes that help define two different bodies, but both are on an already existing line in 3D:
Though not shown in this image, I can see points show up from time to time, including the two I want to measure between (what makes them appear and disappear is also more or less a mystery to me…) To make it all the more maddening, the upper point is at the Origin!
So far, I have utterly failed at this, and have literally wasted over an hour trying to figure out how to get the Measure Tool to work, to no avail. (Yes, I can just draw a line between the points and check its length (apparently not using the measure tool), but I AM trying to learn how to actually use the Shapr3D tools. It looks to me like this one just doesn’t work.)
As far as I know, the measuring device can measure dedicated points on the body, center, bisector, endpoint. In the video, I move the pencil over the surfaces…
I can get points to show up as shown in your video (and the two I want are highlighted with various mouse-wiggling) . I cannot figure out how to designate the two points I want a measurement between, though.
To a first order approximation, the P2P measure feature just seems to be broken and unusable.
I should not have to create another line every time I want a measurement, but it seems that’s the only way.
