Extruding to another sketch

Hi, complete beginner here!

I’m trying to extrude a sketch on the ZY plane, but I want to define the distance by another sketch on the YX plane.

I tried changing the extent to Object, but it doesnt allow me to select the other sketch.

This is a pretty easy thing to do in Fusion, so I’m wondering if I’m overlooking something.

Thanks!

Where is the next sketch? Would help to see it.

I can’t export because I’m still on the free version. But it’s just these 2 sketches:

Tap on the face you wish to extrude, it will get bluer (tech term). You should see the double extrude arrows thingy. Tap on that and plug the number of the length of the rectangle’s long side in and it will extrude to that length.

Unless you mean to do the other thing… which needs another bit of sketching.

The length of the rectangle will be driven by other measurements on it, and at this point I don’t know the length yet.

I was hoping there was a way that the extrusion could always follow the length of the bottom sketch.

Hi,

the best way I know is to create a plane along the edge and then extrude to this plane.

Brilliant! I tried this before but somehow the plane disappeared when I clicked on Fix, and was therefore not selectable. Now it seems to be working.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Sketch hides itself after extrude, so the reason why you didn’t see it.

What PEC showed is pretty cool I didn’t know you can do thorough the history.

Also another method is by the sweep tool.
