I’m working on a reproduction of a classic game “box”, Infocom’s Starcross.
I’ve hit a block trying to recreate the four rows of slatted indentations.
They are triangular in shape and push through the surface on to the other side of the saucer. See pictures for reference.
The problem is that these indentations will be on a rounded, sloping surface.
The wall strength is 1.7mm.
How would I go about creating these features?
Incidentally, the other indentations on the surface I created by projecting a trapezoid on to it, and that worked fine. I had to “simulate” the pushing through effect on the other side though, since Shapr3D does not provide such a deform function (correct me if I’m wrong). So what I did here was to project the trapezoid from the construction pane above on to a pane below the disc. However, when projecting the trapezoid on to the surface below, it ended up much higher to the center than suggested by the Sketch View. In order for the effect to be believable, the negative on the top and the positive on the back need to be perfectly aligned though, which currently they are not, because the projection was so much off. Am I doing something wrong here?
Hi,
You can use the shell tool after you did the pattern on the top.
