How do I draw holes on the cylindrical faces of components?

Hi,

I am trying to draw some cylindrical components that I need to make, which have a drilled in the middle and also a hole in from the side which meets up with the hole in the centre. I keep getting an error saying about not about only being able to sketch on planar surfaces. I can’t seem to create a plane parallel to the part either to allow me to extrude a hole into the side. Thanks in advance!

I don’t quite follow your words, but here’s a way to create that perpendicular plane for sketching a circle to create that horizontal hole. A little trick I use sometimes is to temporarily make a body semi-transparent. As the error stated, you cannot sketch on a non planar surface.
