How to Explode and Flatten a Model into Individual Components for CNC Use in Shapr3D?

The problem that this feature will solve:

Currently, in Shapr3D, it’s unclear if there is a way to separate a model composed of multiple components into individual parts and then lay them out flat on a single plane. This capability is critical for workflows where designs need to be exported for CNC machining. Without this feature, it is challenging to prepare individual parts efficiently for cutting or manufacturing, as each piece must be manually separated and aligned. This process is both time-consuming and prone to errors.

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

This feature should allow me to:

  1. Explode or separate a 3D model into its individual components or parts.
  2. Automatically lay out those parts on a single plane for easy export to CNC-compatible formats.
  3. Ensure precise alignment and scaling during the flattening process.

Using this feature, I would be able to streamline my workflow, save time, and improve accuracy when preparing designs for CNC machining.

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

Without this feature, I am forced to manually separate and position each part on a plane, which significantly slows down my workflow. It also increases the likelihood of errors, making it difficult to ensure that all parts are correctly aligned and ready for export. This limitation makes Shapr3D less suitable for CNC preparation tasks and requires reliance on additional software, adding complexity to the process.
