I can't move an object, please help

I want to move a grouping of items to another position. I’ve included a screenshot.

Notice the blue circles, I want to slide this bracket along the base on the bottom. The two points are not on the same plane, but I can measure the distance to slide so when I do slide this object I’ll know how far. My problem is I can’t move the bracket and I don’t know why.

Can anyone suggest something?

Does this work for you?:

  1. Deselect all (if anything is selected)
  2. Select the folder.
  3. Hit the Transform action icon
  4. Hit the Translate icon
  5. Select the face with your first blue dot (the “From” position)
  6. Hit Next
  7. Select the point for of your first blue dot - click
  8. Select the point of your second blue dot - click (the “To” position)
  9. Hit OK
