iPad operation

The two icons (Show/Hide and Open/Close) are too close, so when I tap with my finger, I touch the wrong icon and often can’t operate as I want. The same thing happens with the Apple pencil. Is it possible to move the folder open/close icon to the left edge like in MacOS?

I’d like to add to your suggestion. In the interest of improving the visual real estate on the iPad Pro, why not eliminate the folder right/down arrows and instead tap on the folder to open and close. Have the folder icon change to an open or closed look.

This would be a much simpler improvement.
