Lofting oval to circular

Of all the tools available in Shapr3D, lofting gives me the most pain. Obviously I don’t understand the limitations of the tool, but I can’t actually see why a resulting loft would not be valid.

For example, I am trying to model a reduction fitting between a 100mm vac pipe and the inlet into a de Walt orbital sander. I have both parts, but can’t do the loft between them. Just an oval to a circle. What am I missing?

Are the parts hollow? Loft doesn’t work on hollow cross-sections. You’ll need to modify the cross-sections to be solid, do the loft, and then use the shell tool to hollow it back out.

Aha! Yes, they are hollow. I’ll fix that.

Thanks for your help.

I created 2 planes and projected the respective edges. Did the loft and shelled afterwards.

Hi. Me too. Worked like a charm. Thanks.

I realize @TheBum’s description was quite clear but nothing like a visual to add. Lots of newbies out there.
