McMaster-Carr Step File Library Tool

Currently, I have to go on their website, look for what I need and then download it. They offer files for all their items for cad design. I think adding a direct link to their library where we can search for what we need, click import, and Shapr downloads it and automatically brings it in from a server. A plus if you can make it possible to generate a shopping list with item numbers and option to go to a cart to check out quickly. I know that McMaster-Carr would help as they want to make it as easy as possible to buy items from their site.

It’s a plug-in activated in settings that allows the user to import from files or import from their catalogue. Think Unity asset manager within the application. When I finished, I can view a summary of all the parts in my project, prices if possible, and the option to view on their site.

Speeding up the process of finding and bringing files of their products and viewing all the components I use from their website.

You can do this with many other vendors too, a good way to generate income for you guys by choosing an affiliate program option with the vendors who make the products when we purchase using this tool.

Other Vendors: Arduino, digikey, ect…

Hi and Welcome!
For a first post, it’s a nice advertisement.
But if we have to name others, then let’s choose the free ones.
There are several free ones on:

Free Options are great too, just a plug in with them accessible within the app with ease.

This would be very helpful, similar to how Fusion 360 does it. It is so much easier to import components in fusion from McMaster-Carr than in Shapr3D.

I was on the website for McMaster-Carr and they have a Plug-in already for SolidWorks, so I am sure they have the framework already developed for it that Shapr can use.

And like I said, it doesn’t have to by McMaster-Carr… but a plug-in for any open source or not open source would be amazing.
