Need help creating WWll Ship Terret

Hello all. I’m creating a large-scale model ship to donate to the museum. I’m a paper designer who is getting into Shaper3D and having issues with creating the Terret for the Texas BB35 ship.

What is Terret? And what problems do you have?

Hello there Manny!

I’m Alex, a student using Shapr3d for fun. Just in case you aren’t aware, the link you have at the bottom of your

Post is just to the create a request page. I’m not sure if you were trying to link to a known issue or another post or an image or something. Anyway, I’d love to help you. Is there anything specific that you are having trouble doing?

If you are truly brand new to 3d design, I recommend following along with some YouTube tutorials to get an idea of how people go about designing 3d models.

In broad strokes, for artistic replication of an object, I would recommend figuring out how many different shapes/blocks are combined into one object. In this case, I believe that the turret ring looks like a cylinder, the turret housing is a modified rectangular prism, and each of the guns is a separate cylinder. The base solid would probably be the turret housing, so I would start by making that. Then make separate bodies for each of the other solids.

Here’s a video I made showing me making a turret from the USS Texas.

Hello there, A terret are the Big guns of a Battle ship. Alex has described the basic layout to design that I was having issues with.

Sir, thank you so much for shedding light on the design. I was getting frustrated, and you, sir, have saved the day. I have a question about the guns. What options exist to insert those guns inside the turret and make them rotate, rise and lower? Do you have any ideas?
