I have been trying to design a parametric wall art piece similar to what is pictured below.
I have had limited success with lofting shapes along spline paths, but have no clue how I could create the water ripple effect.
Ideally I would like to end up with a base design that I can simply change values to modify the result.
My best effort so far is a million miles away.

I started a short attempt and this came out. Maby this will help you get ahead.
Vielleicht ist das ein möglicher Lösungsansatz de Sie brauchen können.

Thanks Andreas,
I will give it a try. I think what you are showing is similar to my previous attempts. I tried today with using the revolve tool with limited success.
It’s all good learning experience.

Here’s another approach using Sweep.
A combination of using sweep along with what @Andreas suggested could work.

Hi TigerMike,
That looks like it has potential. I will explore the possibilities.
Much appreciated.

Here’s a variation. Different shapes to sweep. I also used non-uniform scale to move the ovals away from each other along one side. Something a little different.
Everyone gave a good suggestions so I thought I recommend something different. I believe the original artist used a tool like Blender. This is actually fairly easy to do there.
I quickly made this texture in Affinity Photo and displaced it in Blender. You can also procedurally create patterns by using Geometry Nodes and inputing new values will generate a new pattern too.
If you want to stay more CAD Rhino’s Grasshopper Visual programing can create these kind of patterns.
Such a construction becomes instressant if it is soundproof at the end.
