Hi
My MacBook is the i7pro version of 2015, 16+512, and the system is Monterey12.7.6, the highest one it can upgrade. When I try to download Shapr3d from the Appstore, it demands for 13 or higher version of the macOS. Is there older version that is capable for my MacBook? If there is, how to get it? Thank you!
Hi and Welcome.
Bad news. Read this thread…
Hi! Unfortunately shapr 3D now requires macOS 13 or later and older versions are no longer availeable through the app store since your 2015 MacBook maxes out at macOS 12.7.6 you would not be able to install the current version you might try reaching out to shapr 3D support to see if they can provide a legacy versionbut official support is unlikely. Upgrading hardware may be the only long term solution.
Currently (Nov 25) Shapr3D no longer supports legacy versions, and the earliest OS it will run on is Ventura (OS 13). You can upgrade safely to Sonoma (OS 14.8.2) using the OpenCore Legacy Patcher, which will format a data stick, download an OS installer on it, and patch the MacBook to accept the new OS. I have done this, and Shapr3D works perfectly on it. OCLP offers all versions of the Mac OS, but don’t be tempted to upgrade to Sequoia or Tahoe, as these require chips that you don’t have. Some older apps will need updates, but the new OS hasn’t crashed anything yet. Before upgrading, perform a full Time Machine backup to an external drive so you can return to your Monterey setup if needed.
