Just model the plywood layers
The closest I can get for now is to use the veneer wood on the top/bottom faces and something like sanded bamboo on the edge faces. Increase the scale to ~2 and roughness ~2 on the bamboo. It looks more like pressed board but at least it helps to indicate that the material is plywood if you have to stay within Shapr3d.

I tried it.
Projected pattern of linear lines and pushed down very slightly so I can easily select them in VIZ MODE.
looks way better (and is fully customizable) than the workaround. Still tedious and will not track well with model changes. Let’s hope for an intelligent plywood material.
