Put text on rectangle

I have a rectangle extruded 2mm. I want to add text to it. It feels impossible to do. My steps below will probably sound crazy and you’ll shake your head because there’s got to be an

  1. I make the text and it turns into like 200 dots. Is that normal?
  2. Now I go to extrude and there are the letters a, d, o, g and such, that are two parts because of the holes. Do I really have to go through and unselect every hole before extruding?
  3. After clicking all holes and extrude, I now have to move the text to the top of the rectangle, so I try Align. Now I have to select every letter one by one, maybe even edges too. Is that really how it’s done?
  4. So I stop doing that, because that’s silly to do, so then I try to align the text myself by moving it with the arrows.
  5. Then I go to export it as a .3mf. I open it in BambuLabs and it’s a big blob of crap.

Please help me :frowning:

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Make the text there you need it so you don’t need to move anything

Thank you. Your time doing this is appreciated.

Update:
Unfortunately, it goes from this in Shapr3d, to this blob in BambuLabs. Instead of making an indent with letters I’m bumping them out. On that bottom image I clicked on one of the 50 objects, which was one of the letter a’s, because it’s not obvious this is a pile of letters.

Hard to say why it did that. If you could post your file someone can look into it.

I know that happens when you didn’t union and separated it in the slicer.

Maybe try STL vs 3MF
