Request for Assistance in Creating a General Cuff Shape with Wave-like Design

Dear Shapr3D Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m currently working on a jewelry design project and seeking assistance in creating the general shape of a cuff bracelet with a wavy structure. The overall design is sleek and minimalistic, with smooth, flowing lines that give the cuff a dynamic, wave-like aesthetic.

While I’m primarily looking for help with developing the basic shape of the cuff, any assistance in refining the detailed wave-like lines would be greatly appreciated as well. I would be ever grateful for your expertise and insights, as this design holds great importance to my project.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I’m looking forward to learning from the talented members of this community!

Warm regards,
Nick

What you are asking is for a very organic shape more akin to sculpting which shapr does not do.

However there maybe be a few ways to do this. But it will be tedious. Lofting comes to mind combined with boolean operations.

Providing a few links that will give you ideas to get you started on how to do this.

Thank you kindly my friend, I will begin my research !

In this example I demonstrate one method to manipulate lines/ curves in sketches using the move tool.

Others smarter than me or with different takes on it will weigh in if they are around.

It will be tedious work but worth the end result.

The main problem with this is you must decide how you wish to do this design. You can make a flat plane and then bend it, or make a bangle form and work from that. it largely depends on how you prefer to do your work.

Basically a bangle is a flat plane that is then pressed to curl in at least axis.

If I can figure out how to, I might make a video showing what im saying. Seems like a fun little project.

Is this a mid journey image?

Hello Andrew! @arium.design

This is as far as I’ve gotten, I intend on continuing to work out it, I haven’t yielded what the image represents….

Preferably, I would like to cast the entirety as one shaped product & adjust from there. I am familiar with your idea of making a plane and shaping it accordingly.

Would be thrilled to see another attempt or such. Thank you for your interaction my friend!

Hi,
For this kind of decor plating, I export to MoI3D or Onshape, then I retrieve in S3D.
There is a feature missing in Shapr3d: the Wrap/Flow tool, it’s a shame to spend hours trying to do it in S3D.
I still hope for an update incorporating this functionality.
Attached a test, but not conclusive.

Hello @jean-philippe2

Any and all knowledge is appreciated!! Your attempt is fantastic. Thank you for at least giving me some of your time & thoughts.

I am very appreciative!

Kindly,

Nick

I took a wack at it. I used sketch tool to make a shape bound by constraints that were arbitrary, 6" by 3" or something rectangle, then used spline tool to make the general shape.

From there I extruded the form. added a plane on the edge that intersects edge at 90 degrees.

Sketched my shape, and used sweep with the edge of form.

I decided to make a simple thing, and did not make multiple wavy shapes. To do so you can cop the form, then from top down view cut a wave shape as desire, then use the same process as before. take those waves and if you’re in line with the main form, you just drag it over.

Using the original form, shell it and make the core band thickness as you wish.

Adjust and then combine to be one item.

Here is me messing about and interpreting the bangle style in may own way.

Neat little thing to figure out. There are absolutely better tools for this type of thing.

That’s what it’s all about though, how you put your touch on things. Thank you for playing with the project & I appreciate the knowledge you shared.

Very fun!

Yup, same general process however.

The last gift I bought a girl was a bottle opener. Bespoke bracelets might result in an improved outcome.
