The problem that this feature will solve:
Currently saving a version is a headache. Also autosave is mandatory.
Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:
*My use is desktop. We should be able to Save As a new file name. Also we should be able to disable autosave. Normal production behavior. Additionally I’d like the ability for the Shapr to identify a version string in the name (i.e. FuBar_v01, FuBar_v101 etc) and have a Save New Version command in the File menu. Nuke and others have this and it’s a nice touch.
re autosave, it’s not uncommon to open an existing file and experiment with a few things as a sort of sandbox and in those cases I don’t want autosave. Adding an Autosave on/off checkbox menu item in the File menu would be appreciated. Another common feature is Autosave/Backup every xx minutes preference, and autosaved/backup files go in an Autosave directory. In cases where the close box is clicked with unsaved changes, user can be prompted to save.*
What can’t you achieve without this feature?
Creating a new version of a file is cumbersome.
