Save As and Autosave

The problem that this feature will solve:

Currently saving a version is a headache. Also autosave is mandatory.

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

*My use is desktop. We should be able to Save As a new file name. Also we should be able to disable autosave. Normal production behavior. Additionally I’d like the ability for the Shapr to identify a version string in the name (i.e. FuBar_v01, FuBar_v101 etc) and have a Save New Version command in the File menu. Nuke and others have this and it’s a nice touch.

re autosave, it’s not uncommon to open an existing file and experiment with a few things as a sort of sandbox and in those cases I don’t want autosave. Adding an Autosave on/off checkbox menu item in the File menu would be appreciated. Another common feature is Autosave/Backup every xx minutes preference, and autosaved/backup files go in an Autosave directory. In cases where the close box is clicked with unsaved changes, user can be prompted to save.*

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

Creating a new version of a file is cumbersome.

Agreed on the option to save as a new project. That would be helpful.

I personally don’t have a particular problem with the autosave implementation (to experiment I just duplicate my current project and play round in that), but I can see how some might want to customize those options.

From time to time i do have a sever problems with autosave, that is in the extension to uploads everything. And at fast edits but most prevalent when doing multiples copies (≈ 500MB each) to keep versions (ofter connected to figuring out some bad behavior of Shapr).

I resort to not cut only the telemetri of (als always), but every com. Or I would be caught in an endless slow upload.

I tink there should be a way to temporarily cut of upload, and in some cases auto save.
