Season 1 Challenge #5 is LIVE | Parametric Sketching 5/5

You’ve made it this far! It’s time for our final challenge:

What you’re building

Create a parametric model of a tiled table. The model must automatically adapt the number of tiles based on adjusting two independent driving variables:

  1. the dimension of the tile

  2. and the dimension of the border.

By modifying these two driving parameters, the model must transition from State A to State B.

The rules

Fixed Dimensions: A, B, and C

Driving Dimensions: D and E

Driven Dimensions: F and G

:warning: Important: Design history tree should only contain Sketches and Extrusions. The use of any other features will result in an invalid submission.

NOTE: When the number of tiles is changed, a warning is expected in the design history!

Submit your CAD file through this link by the end of the week on Sunday.

Your results are going to be shown on the leaderboard after the submissions are evaluated.

The rules don’t seem to be complete?

i.e. for a given D and E, F and G are not determinate even if N is also a driving parameter.

I seem to be missing something fundamental?

Here is a little tip to help you tackle the relationships: the outer border dimension (D) depends on the border thickness (G), there is a specific ratio between these two dimensions. These are dependent dimensions.

Sure is tricky. I have outer and inner boarder working so far. Now how to control the tiles….hmmn​:thinking:
