Select Through feature seems like it has a very narrow window of selecting what I want. Or maybe I don’t fully understand how to get the right selection.
Labeled both the same, shouldn’t the one on File Menu be called Select Through Preview or something like Transparent View since you can’t select anything through it.
So what I’m confused with is how can I make the Select Through to Select Through It? Popup selection does not give me all sides.
More Simple Example, Cube has 6 sides but I can only select 2 with Select Through and I have no idea why just those 2, maybe there is a logic that I don’t fully grasp.
I think that’s because when you use the right-click menu, you’re already selecting one of the faces. So you get a list of related faces and edges. If you click outside the menu, you’ll be in the same state as if you had used the shortcut.
When you use a shortcut or the main menu, no face is selected yet, so you see the initial state of the ‘select through’ procedure.
This is example of selecting one of the edge without using shortcut
More I use it I feel again something is little off.
This operation makes sense getting the popup AFTER it is transparent but not before. Since now I found out Selection List is based on whats behind your mouse pointer.
When you utilize the Right Click Select Through you know what you want to get but can’t see through it so you can’t place your mouse on the correct position. I think that was the confusion I had during my original attempt.
So makes more sense for Right Click just show Transparency first so it forces you to select layer/face that you want to select through just like the Keyboard Shortcut Method.
Activating transparency first and than selecting it seems like the Right STEP vs the reverse step of the right click method.
