stuck during file import - transferring to parasolid

I can’t import a .stp file into a new design.
This is what I do:

  1. I create a new (empty) design
  2. I select “… → import”
  3. I select any of the files I would like to import (that I created via the website “Convert STL to STP online for free”

Shap3r loads the file and shows
“processing…” then
“processing source file…” then
“transfering to parasolid…”

and that’s it. It doesn’t proceed further.

I have ~ 3MB files and I run Shap3r in Windows 10 on an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with 16GB of RAM and a NVIDIA 2060.
While displaying “transfering to parasolid…”, Shap3r seems to use 0% of my CPU time, 5.3MB of RAM, 0% disk usage and 0% GPU usage.
