I created a body, when I tried to copy the body, using translate tool, new body was copied and pasted and the old body changed, it now extended all the way along the translation distance.

The Translate copy feature works in a way that it actually translates the new duplicate body leaving the original body in position.
What will you like to achieve? You can simply translate or copy the original body as shown in the great short videos below:
