26.90 - X-Ray mode, seamless Decals, and improved construction tools

Gain internal visibility with the new X-Ray mode, wrap decals seamlessly across surfaces, and experience a more intuitive construction workflow.

Display Modes

  • New: X-Ray mode is now available in the Display Modes menu, allowing you to see internal geometry while keeping the overall shape of your design visible. Use the Opacity slider to adjust transparency so you can inspect internal parts without losing the context of the outer model.

Decals update in Visualization

  • New: Now you can allow decals to flow across multiple connected surfaces using the “Face Chaining” option. When enabled, your graphics will wrap seamlessly over adjacent faces rather than being restricted to a single surface.
  • Improved: Decals are now supported in PBR and USD exports, ensuring labels and logos are preserved when sharing models via Published Versions.
  • Fixed: Decals are now accurately clipped by the Section View plane, preventing graphics from lingering in the modeling space when their surfaces are hidden.

Construction Tools

  • Improved: Construction Plane and Construction Axis moved from the Add menu to a dedicated Construct menu for better visibility. The Adaptive User Interface now also suggests multiple construction options based on your selection, making construction tools easier to find.

  • Improved: Aligning Construction Planes and Axes is now more precise, with notable points highlighted in purple during selection to provide more predictable snapping and alignment.

Not directly related to x-ray mode (I like it!), but this reminded me to point out a minor inconvenience with the shaded display mode:

When I want to show hidden edges, I always have to turn “show edges” on first to get the option, even though the edges are already on and visible by default. This might just be a bug where the “show edges” toggle is “off” on startup even though they are visible.

This is on the windows version of Shapr.

Love the x-ray mode!

the face chaining is sooo cool! thank you shapr!

i have some notes..

-is there a way to snap the decal to the exact middle of the object? i notice we can snap to the edge of geometry - which a workaround could be drawing a line in the center, but that would be tedious to have to do that everytime
&
-could you add some sort of fit decal to edges of face feature? for this, i had to manually scale it using the properties panel, and i wish i could just set the scale to fit or something. i guess if you were able to set it to fit, then you wouldnt really need to align to the center anymore since it might do it for you.

anyways great addition… thank you

heres another quirk i found.. cant seem to drag decals to areas where a face is not present. this makes sense, i see why its programmed that way. but, it makes this scenario of applying a cd label impossible since i cant drag the point to the center.

Hello, thank you for your detailed feedback. We will continue improving the Decal feature in the near future. Snapping to the center point of the face is one of the features we plan to implement soon.

Amazing update! Really love the x-ray mode.
