My experience;
Upgrade to the new ‘automatic offload’ version; all your older local projects are gone.
This is regardless of whether you set settings sync to OFF (by a inofficial but present preference) or by just blocking all/specific traffic to Shapr.
Shapr does NOT test if you have some net before the delete is initiated! I sincerely hope (not tested) that Shapr at least checks that the latest project version is uploaded to the cloud before erasing the locals.
Going along with this new scheme you either have to go through hundreds or thousands of project settings to get them back or a backup restore that you may have of
/Users/nn/Library/Containers/com.shapr3d.shapr/Data/Documents/projects
(macOS) and do a fallback to a previous version.
I can see a scenario where you are out of net or have a blackout for a week, and some precious older files (that you forgot to set) just disappear behind your back.
How about a global opt-in for;
-
Cloud sync
-
Local age removal
Shapr is turning in to a Steve Krug and Steve Jobs; Don’t let the user choose, We Know Best! Very insensitive…
