Stay organized and work more efficiently with updates to the Dashboard, Measure mode, and storage management.
New: Now you can include X, Y, and Z deltas in Measure mode to see how far elements are separated along each axis, helping you verify alignment and spatial relationships in your model.
New: Projects you haven’t opened in 30 days are now automatically stored in the cloud to optimize space and performance. Choose Keep Downloaded to keep a project offline and ready anytime, or Remove Download to store it in the cloud and sync it back when needed.
Also, could we get the move function in the visualization tab too? It’s a bit annoying when I’m working on renders and playing with he composition - having to quit and enter visualization every time.
Yes, I know of the shortcuts - but these only work with a keyboard and I mostly work on iPad. And, also on a Pc, it would enhance the ease of use, one of the main selling points of Shapr3d. Just a simple function would make the workflow a lot better, especially for designers with clients for whom they need the best renders possible - which requires hours of tweaking.
The measurement panel is now modal?! This is horrible. I use pinned measurements as a reference but now that having the measurement “mode” open restricts you to only measuring things, the workflow is severely impacted.
The automatic offload to the cloud may be a good thing for people who want to use the cloud but it is highly insensitive to not have a crystal clear handling of cloud vs non-cloud.
From my understanding, the offloading will only occur if you have the cloud enabled but shapr obfuscates this by calling it “Sync : Status: Enable Across Devices. Sync projects across multiple devices so you can model anywhere - even when you’re offline”.
Users want a very clear Cloud : on/off and if it’s on, the option of how to handle offloading down to the project level.
I’m in the “never use the cloud” camp but as of late, Shapr3d is starting to scare me with the reports of users not being able to disable the cloud after it has been enabled and other confusing behavior.
Upgrade to the new ‘automatic offload’ version; all your older local projects are gone.
This is regardless of whether you set settings sync to OFF (by a inofficial but present preference) or by just blocking all/specific traffic to Shapr.
Shapr does NOT test if you have some net before the delete is initiated! I sincerely hope (not tested) that Shapr at least checks that the latest project version is uploaded to the cloud before erasing the locals.
Going along with this new scheme you either have to go through hundreds or thousands of project settings to get them back or a backup restore that you may have of
/Users/nn/Library/Containers/com.shapr3d.shapr/Data/Documents/projects
(macOS) and do a fallback to a previous version.
I can see a scenario where you are out of net or have a blackout for a week, and some precious older files (that you forgot to set) just disappear behind your back.
How about a global opt-in for;
Cloud sync
Local age removal
Shapr is turning in to a Steve Krug and Steve Jobs; Don’t let the user choose, We Know Best! Very insensitive…
Great update! The image rendering display is excellent! It gives me the wonderful feeling of having my wish granted immediately after making it, but I tested it and found that in Shapr3D, the image does not seem to fit onto the cylinder. Am I missing something?
