5.910 - Dashboard details, Measure mode, and storage optimization

Maybe in a future but not yet.

Hi,
For the moment, Shapr3D can’t Project an image.

I wish Shapr would export to Sketchfab.

Or to sites that is more portfolio focused.

Link is gone once project is backed up and deleted.

BKE learn it the hard way, he should have always backed up first.

These are minor things — there are far more important improvements that should be made.

True, I just don’t use Sharing in Shapr, link will eventually die.

What they could enable is Permalink.

You look through the forum, you see dead shapr links.

Also resolves this issue Jean had

AUTOMATICALLY offloading older than 30 day projects is not good at all.
I have scores of files that I sometimes need to refer to offline on my iPad - eg. standard components or circuit boards that I need to insert into new ideas.

There’s no fast way to select all and ā€œkeep downloadedā€ - please introduce an opt out for this ā€œfeatureā€

If you go to Drafts Space and select all and RIGHT Click Keep Download, from what I read above that saves it to offline (could be wrong).

If that is incorrect choose all and Right Click export to Shapr for manual backup. That will let you save all the files at once.

Once my project is done I have been backing it up and deleting it off the cloud. I don’t trust the cloud not because my files going to get stolen. I just don’t trust cloud storage, because it might get lost in the cloud.

Hi,
Select one Project and select all (command A or Control A).
Right clic and choose Keep download.

I don’t know if I was doing something wrong, but before this update on windows, I could leave the measure window popped up and just click lines to see the measurements nice and easy. With this change, If I have the measure clicked it is wanting me to start selecting points like it is it’s own tool and I have to hit the X to cancel before I can do other actions.

I also don’t like a modal measurement panel and commented about it earlier. I will adapt but this change took away a useful feature.

The good

  • You can copy the measurement value
  • Pinned measurements remain visible on the model when the measurement window is closed.
  • Delta option

The bad

  • modal window prevents other operations from being performed
  • Pinned measurements can cause a visual mess
  • List of measurements aren’t easily delineated even though they differ in name and icon. At least parallel distance appears first as that’s probably the most used.

Notes on copying a measurement

There should be a button on each measurement to copy the value to the copy buffer instead of relegating to the OS’s options. E.g. on iPad ā€œCopy | Select All | Call | Message | Add to Contacts | Shareā€. Obviously that’s not the intent here…

Also, if the measurement window wasn’t modal, you could enable drag and drop so that you could drag the measurement to a value input field.

The copy and drag features would be great but I want to emphasize that better alignment/snapping is needed in the gizmo. Measurements, copy paste, etc. are stop gaps for alignment/snapping for most users.
