On the bottom of the screen, you can find a magnet icon where the snaps and guides can be switched on and off. In the video below you can see some purple lines, those are the Sketch Guide Lines that can be really helpful.
If you orient your model around the origin of the workspace, you can save a lot of time when snapping or mirroring later in your workflow.
The last thing that you can see in the video is what happens if the two sketches are placed on different planes. In this case, you have to project the other sketch to the active plane to be able to snap to it.
