Assistance for design of hinge for handcuff

Please be patient, I am just learning!

I am looking for an explanation, or screen shot of how i may gp about designing a single handcuff.

its how the hinge would design, and then the clasp the other side that would go into itelf on the opposit side of the hinge.

any advice appreciated, not in a rush!

thanks in advance.

3d printing this?

I ask because it’s best to consider at the start……..

will be yes once i can finish the full design. happy to use bolts, or not.

Would be cool to print hinge in place.

it will be too big i think, they are going to be shackles, head and arms..

See how tomorrow goes. Might model some ideas,

i have the design i want, but its more the learning. if you could potential post how i can do the hinge for the two parts of one shackle that would be amazing! and i can practice.

Simple hinge like this?

yes! i think i know what you did there, so will give it a go tomorrow when the kids give me 5 minutes

Thanks!

This might help.

They are a nice design challenge - with the ratchet mech.

I do love a click.

How about for the neck. Opportunity to use emboss tool.:exploding_head:

thanks for the replies! some good ideas there. ive had a busy one with the kids, but have quickly thrown together

so im on the right path! i like **Fawksey3D idea for the emboss tool. will give that a whirl tomorrow, forgot i have an event to go to tonight!

there is going to be one for the neck, and then two for the hands.

likely do a single solid shackle (between all items, split in half), with a single padlock to keep all together. ** this may be the easiest for my current design skill set lol.

Nice. For me there is no right or wrong answer when creating for oneself. Just let the creativity flow. Break out the functional parts of the model - maybe 3d print to see how it functions / what the tolerances are like.
