Hey all,
The problem I am going to describe has been discussed a few years back on this forum, however it still works exactly like it has been and I can’t help it, sometimes I just want to throw the laptop out the window because of this one single feature.
Not sure why it has been done like this, but I really hope this will get fixed eventually, because other than this my experience with Shapr3D has been very smooth.
The problem:
When rotating the view, there is an axis that it will not allow you to rotate about.
The intuitive way would be to imagine a transparent sphere around the CAD space and wherever you click on the screen, it essentially grabs the surface of the sphere and rotates it the way you drag the cursor. I don’t know the technical terms behind all this, but I would imagine there is some tinkering in other softwares with the centre of rotation as well, because that also seems change.
In shapr what happens instead is that it works in 2 views but never works when your view is perpendicular to the Z coordinate.
I can attach a video showcasing how it works in Shapr and also switching to a different software where it works as it should, but for some reason the forum doesn’t allow me to attach it.
Here is a drive link, I hope it works:
If there is a setting to turn off this nonsense please let me know.
Incredibly frustrating, apologies for the blunt message.
