CHALLENGE Ribbon bend

I have tried many ways to do a ribbon-like bend (see images). This software struggles a bit with less uniform shapes like a twisted/tilted whatever non-u-shaped bend  ‘Sketches’ are very rigid and 2-dimensional. It takes ages to create planes and drawings that intersect with each other; otherwise, ‘Loft’ or ‘Sweep’ are not very happy to follow.

So this is a challenge to anyone in this community who would like to find a workaround with current tools and a scenario for the Shapr3D team.

:ninja: Shapr3D master badge :ninja: if someone neatly bends and re-bends back down this ribbon like shape

Yours faithfully,

One week of my life.

Does this look good enough? (20 minutes of my life)

Ribbon.step (20.6 KB)
Ribbon (thin).step (20.7 KB)

Nice! Getting there, what methodology did you use? Made a U-Shape than moved the body/a face? Mine was freaking out and not forming properly. Maybe on ipad acts differently.

I try to avoid using the Move/Rotate tool. I didn’t use it here either. The last screenshot shows the list of actions I performed (1 sketch and 6 simple actions, everything is parametric).

It’s exactly the same on the iPad. I used to have one, so I was able to compare, but I decided to sell it and now I work only on a Mac.

On an iPad using Move-Rotate.

20 minutes, but we love you for it. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I am trying to figure out what are you rotating on axis, is it a face?

When I was just starting out with Shapr3D, I experimented with this type of form

Oh my gosh :exploding_head::scream: Continuity works this way in ‘Loft’! All I needed is to tilt the end faces. Thanks so much!! All those hours trying a gazillion way to do it. That’s it problem = post here :sweat_smile:
