I spend a considerable amount of time positioning window and doors. If these “openings” were a type of object with its own properties, the design process would be considerable faster and vastly more elegant. These features are currently hacked into place and leave cumbersome artifacts upon movement or revision.
Additionally, these types of features are more detail oriented than typical surfaces and offer the promise of a more nuanced level of implementation than trying to deconstruct an existing surface.
Presently, I leave voids for doors and windows - not even bothering to demonstrate trim/swing/panels, pains, or hardware. The result shows shapr3d’s limitations. Alternatively, such a feature would allow for much more powerful, yet easy to configure parameters - paving the way for a vast collection of reusable libraries of common architectural features/objects.
Perhaps shapr3d needs an architectural working group?
