Conic Spiral

Hi all,

I’m trying to create a spiral/spring in a conic shape. I created a non-conic spiral with the revolve tool, but sadly am not able to make it conic. I’d like to have a spring that sits tightly around a cone, therefore the spring has to also be conic (tighter on one side than the other)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
While there is not a direct solution to that, you can follow the process below ;

Add a constructive plane through the middle of the cone, see below:

Double tap on the new plane, Sketch in 2D over it (the appropriate angle of the spiral), below:

Use Project tool to project the 2D sketch on the conical surface, the result will be as in the below vid:

You might want to add cross section to the wire, simply add the cross section to the beginning of the spiral and then use the sweep tool, etc.
